One of my favorite wine bars in Rome is called il Vinaietto. Located between Campo de’Fiori and Largo Torre Argentina, it’s in the heart of the historic center. It’s not new, fancy nor does it even look particularly clean, but the glasses are and that’s what counts! There’s no pretentiousness here. I’m sure there are others who work there, but all the times I’ve been it’s an older woman behind the bar with a gruff demeanor. Ignore the grumpiness and she’ll pour you a great glass of wine at a great price. It gets very busy in the evenings especially on Fridays and Saturdays, but people just spill out onto the street even in the winter.
